New England Coffee named best large family business in Massachusetts

The Massachusetts Family Business Awards, held on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge, honored those family-owned businesses that have excelled in the accomplishments and contributions to the economy and the community.

At the event, New England Coffee was honored with the Paul Karofsky Award recognizing excellence in a business with over 250 full time employees. The other finalists, which included Bernie & Phyl’s of Norton, MA, D&P Associates of Sudbury, MA and Sonesta Hotels of Boston, MA.

This is the first year for the Massachusetts Family Business Awards program, which was open to all Massachusetts-based family-owned businesses that now includes, or has included more than one generation. Applications were reviewed and judged by an independent panel of judges who examined each nominee’s business success, positive business and family linkages, multi-generational family involvement, contributions to the community and industry, and innovative business practices or strategies.
