Coffee Crafty: DIY Coconut Coffee Scrub Cubes
Reduce, re-use, recycle – it’s what we do to be eco-friendly. Not only does it save money and energy, it can be quite a lot of fun! This crafty project for a DIY Coffee Coconut Scrub thinks outside the mug when it comes to enjoying your favorite New England Coffee.
Coffee is excellent for your skin. The grainy texture makes it a great exfoliant and the caffeine gives your skin a boost. Stephanie from the blog Hello Natural loves mining the benefits of everyday ingredients to keep her skin healthy and glowing. She has this to say about using coffee in her skin care.
“The caffeine in coffee grounds is a genius way to reduce cellulite. The caffeine absorbs into your skin and dehydrates the fluid in those pesky cellulite areas, so your skin is (temporarily) tighter and firmer.”
Her super simple recipe for Coconut Coffee Scrub Cubes requires only two ingredients – coconut oil and coffee grounds. Coconut oil is hydrating and very easy to work with because it comes in solid form but melts with very little heat.
One of the best things about this scrub has to be the smell. The invigorating scent of coffee with the sweet smell of coconut makes this the ultimate treat for those of us who can’t wake up without some coffee or a shower… or both.
To make the cubes, take equal parts of coconut oil and coffee grounds. Melt your oil briefly in the microwave and mix in the grounds. Transfer the mixture to a muffin tin or ice cube tray and refrigerate until it hardens. Store the cubes in the fridge until you are ready to use them.
