As a Roaster Operator, your primary responsibility is to execute the roasting schedule of green beans into cooked beans. This is a critical process that will require your undivided attention to ensure every batch is roasted with precision and accuracy. While reporting directly to the shift supervisor, you will interface with other functions such as quality assurance, manufacturing engineer, and quality control. This position requires effective teamwork, clear communication, initiative, intelligent judgment, achieving and maintaining roasting efficiency, and most importantly an unwavering dedication to safety and the quality of the roasted coffee beans.

You will be responsible for seeking, acquiring and maintaining a profitable customer base through the strategic and creative sales of coffee, tea and related allied products. Responsible for maintaining existing accounts in Central/Northern Massachusetts or the North Shore of MA up the coast to NH and also aggressively call upon new accounts. The coffee industry is changing, you will need to be keenly aware of the competitive situation and submit reports on data regarding new products, selling tactics and pricing.

This position is responsible for managing plant EH&S programs to ensure a safe working environment and minimize the risk for accidents.

The EHS manager implements EH&S programs to provide the road map to zero injuries and world class performance, plans and/or delivers programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, and promotes plant safety by working with all departments to analyze current situation and recommend safety improvements.

The EHS manager also analyzes accident data to identify trends and accident types that can be prevented, works with contractors on equipment installations and modifications, and represents the site at external safety events and audits.

Position Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Implement, execute, and ensure compliance with Reily Foods Company’s EHS procedures
  • Ensure that required regulatory permits are acquired, that reports are submitted to regulatory agencies, and any site permit conditions (e.g. sampling, recordkeeping) are met
  • Participate in formal EH&S reviews of existing equipment modifications, new equipment purchases, and changes in site processes
  • Identify process risks and have the ability to provide facility engineering with rough engineering ideas on solutions to lower or mitigate risk
  • Lead incident investigation process, including root cause analysis and identification of corrective action plans
  • Participates on and coaches site management teams with regard to EH&S challenges/activities
  • Interfaces with regulatory agencies, as needed, on compliance and/or enforcement issues
  • Must be capable of effectively communicating technical details in management meetings, plant meetings, and in training sessions
  • Ability to identify, assess, prioritize, and manage risk appropriately
  • Must be capable of occasional company required travel (10-20%)
  • Educate, foster and support organizational commitment to EHS performance including safety culture
  • Be educated in state workers’ compensation laws and assist in all facility workers’ compensation claims


  • Degree in Occupational HSE discipline, Science or Engineering preferred
  • Professional HSE certification or the desire to attain certification (GSP, ASP, CSP)
  • 5-10+ years of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE, EHS) experience required
  • Demonstrated results in developing, implementing and maintaining effective Health, Safety and Environmental programs
  • Good understanding of state and federal environmental compliance
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment desired
  • Demonstrated & effective skills associated with report writing, database use, web-based tools, spreadsheet creation, etc.
  • Must have the ability to research, analyze, interpret and implement safety/environmental/health regulations, standards, and best practices as they pertain to facilities and operations
